SYMPA is a system for managing email lists.

ITS have used this system to manage the automatically created email lists associated with enrolment groups for some time.

In August 2012, the list services offered through a centrally managed Mailman instance were migrated to SYMPA and management functionality exposed to end users.

At the time of writing the management interfaces could be accessed at

SYMPA exports list names to the Ironport gateway every 30 minutes between 9am and 6pm, Monday – Sunday.

New lists, deletions, and name changes should manifest in the externally accessible mail gateway within half an hour. These same changes should be available to local users (on campus, inside the network) almost immediately.
